Kylian Mbappé has taken the football world by storm since joining Real Madrid, but he’s quick to dismiss any notion of stepping into the shoes of legends Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo.
With a smooth touch of humility, the young Frenchman brushed off the idea of becoming the “new face” of the sport when asked about the iconic duo.
He simply said, “I do not intend to replace them; They are irreplaceable.”
The 26-year-old also shrugged off any fixation on his personal stats, adding, “It will be important to play, score and win. My goal is to help the team. My statistics? It is not something that worries me.”
Mbappé’s first season in Madrid has been electric, with 31 goals in the 2024/25 campaign so far just three shy of the club’s best debut season ever.
He announced his arrival on August 14, 2024, scoring in a 2–0 UEFA Super Cup win over Atalanta, before making his La Liga bow four days later in a 1–1 draw against Mallorca.
