Kylian Mbappe returns to Real Madrid training ahead of Villarreal clash

Kylian Mbappe has returned to full training with Real Madrid and is available for Saturday’s La Liga meeting with Villarreal, according to Spanish newspaper Marca.

The France international took part in Wednesday’s session without experiencing any knee pain, strengthening his chances of featuring in Real Madrid’s eighth league match of the season at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Mbappe sustained the injury while on international duty with France against Turkey in the opening round of the Nations League. He subsequently underwent medical tests and was given a week’s rest before resuming normal training with his team-mates.

The forward has scored seven goals for Real Madrid in La Liga so far this season. That total is level with Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal, while Barcelona striker Raphinha leads the scoring charts with 12 goals.

Real Madrid go into the Villarreal fixture after losing 2-1 to Atletico Madrid in the seventh round of La Liga, their final match before the international break.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side are fourth in the league table with 15 points, six behind leaders Barcelona, who have 21.
