Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe is ready to welcome Zinedine Zidan as the next France head coach after Didier Dechamps.

France have made a strong start to their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign, which will be Didier Deschamps’ final stint as head coach, defeating Ukraine and Iceland respectively.

Dechamps is expected to relinquish his role as the head coach of France after 2026 World Cup tournament, to be staged in the USA, Canada and Mexico next year.

Speculation about his successor is already swirling, with Mbappe refusing to oppose Zidan for the France job.

“Zidane as the next coach of France? Nobody would say no. Only he can say no. If it’s him, great! If it’s someone else, that’s fine too. He’s the only figure in French football history who holds almost every right,” Mbappé stated.

Having secured two crucial wins in September, the France national team is expected to return to action for the continuation of the qualifiers in October. The Les Blues will take on Azerbaijan at home and a return fixture against Iceland away. Victories in those matches would already seal Les Bleus’ place at the World Cup.
