Kylian Mbappe racing to be fit for Manchester City showdown

Real Madrid are increasingly hopeful that Kylian Mbappe will be available for the decisive second leg of their Champions League tie against Manchester City on March 17 at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The French superstar has been sidelined for several weeks with a knee injury and missed the team’s last two matches, raising fears he could sit out the crucial European night.

Mbappe recently travelled to Paris for in-depth medical checks, which brought a major sigh of relief for club and player alike as specialists confirmed that surgery is not required at this stage. Instead, he is now following an intensive recovery programme with Real Madrid’s fitness staff, focused on speeding up his return without risking further damage to the knee.

With several other key players, including Rodrygo, already unavailable, Madrid know just how important Mbappe’s presence could be against City.

The club are cautiously optimistic, carefully monitoring his progress in the hope that their star forward can play a decisive role when Pep Guardiola’s side visit the Bernabeu for a place in the next round.
