Kylian Mbappe praises Nasser Al Khelaifi despite legal battle

Kylian Mbappe has struck a conciliatory tone towards Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al Khelaifi, even after winning a major legal battle over unpaid wages and bonuses.

The Real Madrid forward recently spoke to Le Parisien–Aujourd’hui en France ahead of the World Cup, reflecting on the people who shaped his journey from Monaco to his seven-year spell in Paris.

“In Paris, I had Luis Campos. Olivier Gagne, his assistant, who always guided me. With him, I really talked about everything life, my private life, football. He is one of the few in the business with whom I have exchanged so much,” Mbappé said.

He then broadened the praise to include his former club president. “Of course, there are the coaches and President Nasser too!” he continued. “Everyone only remembers the end, which is normal because leaving PSG is practically impossible. I knew that by leaving, I would end up in this situation. But before all that, I can’t lie, he did a lot for my family and for me.”

Mbappe admitted he was prepared to push his case in court, yet insisted that the legal row does not erase his respect for Al Khelaifi or his affection for PSG.

“When I have a conflict with someone and I think I deserve to win, I have no problem going all the way,” he explained. “But you mustn’t confuse things: Nasser is someone I respect.”

He also underlined what the club still means to him, adding that PSG remains the team where he stayed the longest in his career from 2017 to 2024 and that he cannot simply act as if that chapter never existed.
