French-Cameroonian forward Kylian Mbappé has been included in Real Madrid’s squad for Wednesday’s Intercontinental Cup final against Mexico’s Pachuca.
The match will take place at Lusail Stadium in Doha, Qatar, where Madrid will face the CONCACAF Champions Cup winners.
Mbappé’s participation in the final had been uncertain after he was forced to leave the pitch with a thigh injury during Madrid’s 3-2 Champions League victory over Atalanta last week.
The 25-year-old had scored the opening goal for Madrid in Bergamo but was substituted out just before halftime.
Despite concerns over his fitness, Mbappé has made the squad for the inaugural Intercontinental Cup, which is set to replace the former Club World Cup format with a new annual competition.
It remains unclear how much playing time Mbappé will receive, with coach Carlo Ancelotti expected to provide an update during his pre-match press conference on Tuesday.
Mbappé had previously recovered from a thigh injury in September, which was expected to keep him sidelined for three weeks, but he returned to action earlier than anticipated and played against Lille in October.
