Kylian Mbappe has ended his nearly 20-year partnership with Nike and joined Swiss sportswear company On.
The Real Madrid forward’s arrival marks On’s first major move into football, as the brand looks to establish itself in a new sporting market.
Mbappe said he was attracted by the opportunity to help create products designed to influence the future of the game.
“What appealed to me about On from the outset was the opportunity to build something completely new together, capable of shaping the football of tomorrow,” Mbappe said through the company’s official channels.
“I want to bring my experience and vision to our creations, continue exploring the possibilities offered by innovation and remain true to my passion for football. We share the same dream and this is only the beginning.”
On was founded in 2010 and initially focused on running before expanding into other sports, including tennis. The company now intends to use its partnership with Mbappe to make an impact in the football market.
The brand’s first football boot is expected to be released in 2027. Mbappe will work directly with On’s developers, helping to test and refine its new products as they are created.
Thierry Henry will also have a central role in the company’s football plans. The former Arsenal and France forward was appointed director of football and has been working behind the scenes on On’s entry into the sport since the end of 2025.
Henry said the project would require a different way of approaching football equipment.
“To build something new in football, you need a bold and original approach,” he said.
“Over the past year, I have been able to see at close quarters the curiosity and attention to detail that the On team is bringing to this process. We want to listen to players, understand their needs and create something that delivers genuine added value to football. I am proud to help build the future.”
