Kylian Mbappe has firmly rejected claims that Real Madrid mishandled his recent knee injury, describing reports that club doctors examined the wrong knee as false and misleading, while offering a strong public endorsement of the club’s medical staff at a critical stage of the season.

The controversy emerged this week following reports in France suggesting that Mbappe’s injury had been incorrectly diagnosed, raising concerns over his treatment and recovery timeline.

However, speaking from the United States, where he is currently on international duty ahead of a friendly against Brazil, the forward moved quickly to shut down the speculation and reassert confidence in Madrid’s handling of his fitness.

“I’ve never been someone—neither as a person nor as a player—who lives with regrets. I focus on the present and the immediate future,” Mbappe said, striking a composed tone that contrasted with the growing noise around his condition. The 27-year-old emphasised that his recovery has progressed well and credited the club’s medical department for ensuring he is in optimal condition.

“Right now, I feel good, especially my knees, which is important to me. That’s partly thanks to my club, who have taken good care of my fitness. I’m very happy to be here, available, and fully fit.”

Mbappe’s response also addressed the specific allegation that has fuelled the debate, insisting there was no basis to the claim.

“The information that they examined the wrong knee is false,” he stated, before acknowledging that a lack of communication may have contributed to the spread of rumours. His remarks suggest a desire to draw a line under the issue and refocus attention on football matters as the season enters its decisive phase.

Despite missing time since sustaining the injury in early January, Mbappe highlighted the team’s ability to maintain momentum in his absence, subtly reinforcing the depth within Carlo Ancelotti’s squad. He noted that while some had portrayed him as indispensable, results have shown otherwise, with Madrid continuing to collect important wins.

Now fully fit and available, Mbappe has declared himself ready for selection, although he deferred the final decision on his involvement against Brazil to the coaching staff, signalling both confidence in his condition and respect for team management.
