France striker of Cameroonian descent, Kylian Mbappe, broke two different records on Saturday night during the Copa del Rey final.
The former PSG star scored his first-ever goal from a direct free-kick as Real Madrid lost 3-2 to FC Barcelona in the much-anticipated final.
His equaliser made him become the top French goal scorer in finals, surpassing Karim Benzema’s record of 11 goals.
In addition to breaking that record, Kylian Mbappe, in his debut season with Real Madrid, has outscored Cristiano Ronaldo’s debut season at the club.
Ronaldo in his first season scored 33 goals for Real Madrid. Mbappe on the other hand has scored 34 and could add more if he scores in the upcoming games in the Spanish La Liga.
The France striker is just three goals shy of equaling Ivan Zamorano’s debut-season record of 37 goals for Los Blancos.
Unfortunately, he could miss out on winning the La Liga in his debut season.
