KVC Westerlo sign Ivory Coast striker Abdoulaye Kone from AC Oulu

Ivory Coast centre-forward Abdoulaye Kone has joined Belgian club KVC Westerlo from Finland’s AC Oulu, completing a move that takes the 20-year-old into the Jupiler Pro League.

Kone signed for Westerlo on 2 September 2026 and has agreed a contract running until 30 June 2030. The tall striker, who stands at 1.94m and favours his right foot, will wear the number 25 shirt at his new club.

He arrives in Belgium after spending the previous part of his career in Finland, where he played for AC Oulu in the Veikkausliiga. Kone joined AC Oulu on a free transfer from OLS on 1 January 2026, having previously spent part of the 2025-26 campaign on loan at SalPa from OLS.

His record in Finnish competitions includes 26 appearances, five goals and one assist. He made 11 appearances in the Ykkonen, scoring three times, while also recording two goals and one assist in 10 Veikkausliiga matches. He additionally featured in the Ykkosliiga, Suomen Cup and Liigacup.

The move gives Kone a new opportunity in Belgium after his progression through Finland’s domestic game. His time at AC Oulu followed a spell with OLS, where he had returned after the conclusion of his loan at SalPa.

Westerlo compete in Belgium’s top flight, placing Kone in a new league and footballing environment as he continues his career as a centre-forward. His physical profile and experience in senior competition form the main details of his playing background before the transfer.

Kone’s career in Finland began with OLS in July 2025, before his temporary switch to SalPa later that summer. The loan ended on 31 December, after which he moved to AC Oulu at the start of 2026.

The Ivory Coast-born forward now joins Westerlo under a long-term agreement, with his contract in Belgium secured until the end of June 2030. His transfer from AC Oulu was completed on 2 September 2026.
