Krunoslav Jurčić urges Pyramids FC to defend African supremacy ahead of Super Cup clash with Berkane
Pyramids FC head coach Krunoslav Jurčić says his side is fully focused on retaining their African Super Cup title as they prepare to face Morocco’s RS Berkane.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, October 17, 2025, the Croatian tactician underlined his team’s determination to remain champions and uphold Egypt’s reputation on the continental stage.
Jurčić made it clear that the final is more than just a match — it is a statement of intent from Pyramids FC.
We respect all the teams and our opponents, but we are the champions and our goal is to remain champions, he said. “This is an opportunity to confirm our strength and show the character of a team that wants to dominate Africa.
The coach also took the opportunity to address speculation surrounding his squad selection, particularly claims that he had excluded certain players for personal reasons.
He firmly dismissed those reports, insisting that his choices were guided solely by the needs of the team and the physical condition of his players.
There is no basis for the rumors that I refused to include certain players in the team, especially Ramadan Sobhi, because all those in the squad are indeed necessary to me and are essential elements, Jurčić explained. The only reasons are injuries.
With the final looming, Jurčić emphasised unity, discipline, and focus as key factors that will determine the outcome.
The Pyramids boss praised his players for their commitment in training and expressed confidence that their preparation would pay off when it matters most.
He also issued a rallying call to supporters, urging Egyptian fans to stand behind the team as they seek to bring home another continental trophy.
I urge the Egyptian public to support Pyramids FC against Renaissance de Berkane, because we are representing Egypt, he declared. The crowd will truly witness what our players will deliver on the pitch and share their joy as we win the continental title.
Pyramids FC enter the contest looking to build on their growing reputation as one of Africa’s rising powers, while RS Berkane — a side with a strong track record in continental competitions — will be eager to reclaim their own glory.
As both teams prepare for battle, Jurčić’s message remains clear: respect the opposition, but play like champions determined to stay at the top.
