Pyramids FC head coach Krunoslav Jurcic hailed his team’s spirit and resilience after a dramatic 1-1 draw with Mamelodi Sundowns in the first leg of the African Champions League final on Saturday night.
The clash, played under high pressure, saw Pyramids recover from a goal down to earn a crucial late equaliser.
Jurcic praised his players for standing tall against a seasoned opponent with a rich history in the competition. He highlighted their dominance and expressed frustration at missed chances but stressed pride in their late surge and character.
“Pyramids played a very strong game and were the favourites for most of the game, and if it wasn’t for bad luck they could have scored many goals,” Jurcic said. Waleed El Karti’s late strike capped a strong team display.
The Croatian coach underlined the team’s fighting mentality and noted the challenge ahead in the second leg in Egypt. He also voiced frustration over a lack of domestic support and the tight schedule, urging unity behind the club’s continental mission.
