Al Ahly head coach Marcel Koller has confirmed that the club will not make any further signings in the current transfer window unless unforeseen circumstances arise. This announcement comes after Al Ahly’s emphatic 3-0 win over Kenya’s Gor Mahia in the second leg of the CAF Champions League Round of 32, securing their place in the group stage of the tournament.

Speaking to OnTime Sports during the team’s celebration of their league title, Koller addressed the club’s transfer strategy, stating: “As of now, we won’t add any new players during this transfer window unless an urgent situation occurs.”

Koller, who has overseen a highly successful campaign with the Egyptian giants, reflected on the intense pressure the team faced last season, especially during key matches such as the cup final against arch-rivals Zamalek.

“Since I joined Al Ahly, fans have been fully focused on the finals, especially the cup match against Zamalek, which is understandable,” he said.

“Last season, we played many matches and, in the end, we won four titles, which is a great achievement.”

The Swiss coach expressed his pride in the team’s ability to handle the weight of expectation, especially in the league, where every match carried immense significance.

“We were under pressure to win every match in the league last season, and this gave each game significant importance,” Koller explained.

“The team performed excellently and showed their true character in many matches, which makes me proud of the players.”

Looking ahead, Koller remained cautiously optimistic about the team’s prospects but acknowledged the unpredictability of football.

“Predicting who will win a cup is tough,” he said, “but with Al Ahly’s status and history, the club is always a contender for titles every year.”

Koller also took the opportunity to praise the performance of Al Ahly’s goalkeepers, Mohamed El Shenawy and Mostafa Shobier, both of whom he believes have earned national team call-ups.

“I’m very pleased with our goalkeepers.

Both performed excellently and deserve national team call-ups.

We now have two top-level goalkeepers.”

In addition to focusing on the senior squad, Koller addressed the development of younger players within the club, emphasizing the importance of loan moves for their growth.

“It was very difficult for young players to get opportunities with the first team,” he explained. “Sending them on loan to gain experience is crucial instead of keeping them on the team without playing time.”

Under Koller’s leadership, Al Ahly continues to assert their dominance both domestically and on the continental stage, and with no new additions expected this window, the coach is clearly confident in the squad’s ability to compete for further silverware.
