Khalil Fayad linked with Widzew Lodz switch as Montpellier future comes under scrutiny
Moroccan-French midfielder Khalil Fayad has been linked with a move from Montpellier to Polish club Widzew Lodz.
The 22-year-old central midfielder is currently contracted to Montpellier, who play in France’s Ligue 2, while Widzew Lodz compete in Poland’s Ekstraklasa. Fayad’s contract with Montpellier runs until 30 June 2027.
Fayad has not featured in Montpellier’s opening four possible Ligue 2 matches of the 2026-27 season, recording no appearances, goals or assists. The lack of involvement comes as his name is linked with a potential move to Widzew Lodz on 31 August.
Born in Montpellier, Fayad progressed through the club’s academy before moving from Montpellier B to the senior side in July 2022. He had previously joined the club’s under-19 setup from the under-17s in 2020.
The midfielder is eligible to represent both Morocco and France and is listed with a market value of €1.5m. Montpellier remain his current club, with the existing contract leaving a further season beyond the current campaign.
No transfer fee or agreement has been established, and the link remains a rumour.
