Two months to the start of the Championship for African Nations (CHAN), the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed Kenya as the host country for the final match.
The much-anticipated tournament will be held in the summer across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. Originally scheduled for February 2025, the tournament was postponed to August as a result of unready infrastructure and stadiums, as well as difficulties in securing enough teams for the competition.
The continental football governing body in consultation with the three Nations has settled on the Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi as the venue for the final match slated for August 30.
While Kenya host the final, the Mandela Stadium in Kampala, Uganda has been designated to host the third and fourth match of the event.
Meanwhile, Tanzania’s Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam will host the opening match of the Championship on August 2.
Additionally, Zanzibar has been designated as one of the Host Venues – a decision that underscores CAF’s commitment to expanding the reach and inclusivity of African football.
Zanzibar’s Amaan Stadium recently staged a successful CAF Confederation Cup 2024/25 Final in May this year.
The tournament is returning to the East African soil following the 2016 edition in Rwanda. It promises to be a thrilling tournament as participating countries will be eyeing the ultimate at the end of the competitions.
The 2024 CHAN tournament will be held from August 2 to August 30, 2025 in the three countries.
