Kenya Football Federation face financial crisis

The Kenya Football Federation (FKF) is currently facing a serious financial crisis, making it extremely challenging for the federation to deliver on its key programs.

One of the most costly setbacks remains the case of former Kenya national team coach Adel Amrouche, who was wrongfully dismiss between 2013 and 2014.

Adel Amrouche sought for compensation for his unfair dismissal as head coach of the Harambee Stars.

Having being found guilty of contract breaches by the FIFA Players’ Status Committee, the Kenya football governing body were ordered to pay 60 million shillings.

After an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), the compensation was increased to 109 million shillings. Due to delayed payment, FIFA deducted 5.5 million shillings from FKF’s FIFA Forward funds as a penalty.

Meanwhile, the Kenya FA face a potential 18 million shilling fine tied to a disciplinary case involving Zoo FC, which was relegated to the lower division in 2021 over match-fixing allegations.

Currently, the Kenya FA is burdened with obligations exceeding 600 million shillings, undermining their activities.
