Kenya’s national football team coach, Engin Firat, has revealed a 28-man provisional squad ahead of their pivotal Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 qualifying double-header against Cameroon. The Harambee Stars are gearing up for two high-stakes encounters, which will be critical in determining their path to the continental tournament.

The first leg of the showdown will take place on Friday, October 11, in Cameroon, followed by the second fixture on October 14 in Uganda.

Both matches are set to be crucial in shaping Kenya’s fortunes as they aim to secure their spot in the prestigious competition.

The second encounter, however, will be held behind closed doors, adding a unique dynamic to the pressure-packed clash.

Firat’s 28-man roster includes a blend of experienced internationals and promising young talent.

The coach has made strategic selections, bringing in players who can rise to the challenge of facing a formidable Cameroonian side, one of the traditional powerhouses in African football.

The Harambee Stars will need to be at their best to handle the physicality and pace of the Cameroonian team, known for their strength and technical prowess.

Firat’s tactical approach and player selection for these qualifiers will be key as Kenya aims to secure favorable results in both fixtures.

Cameroon will undoubtedly pose a tough test, but Firat’s squad is expected to rely on their solid defense, midfield creativity, and attacking versatility to match their opponents.

The likes of key players in midfield and forward positions will need to step up to ensure that Kenya can produce the performances required to keep their AFCON 2025 hopes alive.

These back-to-back matches come at a critical juncture for Kenya’s football aspirations. Securing points in the group stage is essential, especially against a team of Cameroon’s caliber, as the Harambee Stars seek to make their mark on the continental stage.

Kenya’s performance in these fixtures could define their campaign, and the spotlight will be on Firat and his 28-man squad to deliver when it matters most.

The upcoming games represent not only a test of Kenya’s footballing abilities but also an opportunity to showcase the nation’s growth and ambition in African football.

With the pressure mounting and a place in AFCON 2025 on the line, all eyes will be on the Harambee Stars as they prepare for their vital doubleheader against Cameroon.
