The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled the refereeing team for the final match of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which will pit the Ivory Coast national team against their Nigerian counterparts.
Moroccan referee Bouchra Karboubi will be among the officiating crew for the AFCON final, serving as the fourth official, while Mauritanian referee Dahane Beida will be the match’s main referee.
The AFCON final is scheduled for Sunday, kicking off at 9 p.m. Morocco time, at the Hassan II Stadium.
Karboubi’s inclusion in the refereeing team adds a significant dimension to the final showdown, bringing her expertise and experience to ensure fair play and adherence to the rules of the game.
As one of the few female referees in African football, Karboubi’s appointment to such a high-profile match underscores CAF’s commitment to gender inclusivity and diversity in officiating roles.
Her presence is a testament to the growing recognition of women’s contributions to football and their increasing presence in traditionally male-dominated areas of the sport.
