Karabo Molefe makes Hope FC switch as Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper joins on loan

South Africa goalkeeper Karabo Molefe has joined Hope FC from Kaizer Chiefs on loan, completing a move that takes him away from the Johannesburg club for the 2026-27 season.

The 23-year-old’s transfer was completed on 18 August 2026, with the loan scheduled to run until 30 June 2027. Molefe will return to Kaizer Chiefs at the end of the arrangement.

Molefe moves to Hope FC after spending the opening part of the 2026-27 campaign with Kaizer Chiefs. He was included in the club’s squad for the Betway Premiership and MTN8, but had not made an appearance in either competition before moving on loan.

The goalkeeper began his senior career with Kaizer Chiefs after joining from the club’s youth setup in February 2019. He subsequently spent part of the 2025-26 season on loan at Leicesterford, joining that club in January 2026 before returning to Kaizer Chiefs at the end of June.

That spell at Leicesterford came between two periods registered with Kaizer Chiefs and represented the first temporary move away from the club in Molefe’s senior career. His latest loan now gives him a new club assignment in South Africa while his registration remains linked to Kaizer Chiefs.

Born in Johannesburg on 6 January 2003, Molefe stands at 1.90m and plays as a goalkeeper. His transfer history shows a continuity with Kaizer Chiefs, where he developed after progressing from the youth ranks, while Hope FC become his latest senior destination.

Molefe’s move is Hope FC’s completed acquisition of a goalkeeper on loan from Kaizer Chiefs, with the player due to return to his parent club on 30 June 2027.
