Kalidou Koulibaly Responds to Napoli Transfer Rumours with Focus on Genk
Amid swirling speculation linking him to a summer move to Serie A giants Napoli, Racing Genk defender Kalidou Koulibaly has responded with measured words, choosing instead to keep his focus firmly on finishing the season strong with his current club.
The 23-year-old Franco-Senegalese centre-back has long been admired for his physical presence and composure, and recent reports suggest that Napoli are once again stepping up their interest. However, Koulibaly has been quick to temper the excitement.
“I’m aware of the rumours,” he told Belgian outlet Het Laatste Nieuws. “But for the moment, I play for Genk, and I don’t want to be burdened with all these stories.”
Koulibaly, who previously dismissed speculation about a move to Italy, acknowledged that anything is possible once the season ends. “I don’t know what will happen after the season. What will the club do if there is a serious offer? Which club will make an offer? We’ll see.”
While Koulibaly is keeping a low profile publicly, his performances continue to attract interest across Europe. With the summer transfer window approaching, Genk may face pressure to part ways with their defensive anchor if a strong offer is tabled.
For now, Koulibaly remains a key figure in Genk’s campaign — though his future may soon lie far from Belgium.
