Kalidou Koulibaly sends aid to families of detained Senegalese supporters before Rabat hearing
Senegal captain Kalidou Koulibaly has delivered financial and logistical assistance to the families of 18 Senegalese supporters detained in Morocco, as a crucial court hearing approaches in Rabat.
The supporters have been in custody since the final of the Africa Cup of Nations, and their case is set to return to court on Monday, 16 March.
As the date draws near, Koulibaly has stepped forward once again to support the families affected by the situation.
According to information reported by the sports outlet Wiw Sport, and confirmed in a statement from ASC Lebougui, the central defender organised a new distribution of essential supplies and financial assistance to the households concerned.
Each of the families received two 50kg bags of rice, a 20-litre container of cooking oil, a large bag of sugar, and a packet of coffee.
Alongside these supplies, Koulibaly also provided an envelope containing 50,000 FCFA to help meet daily needs.
The initiative adds to earlier support the player had already given when the case first emerged.
At that time, Koulibaly provided 250,000 FCFA to each of the eighteen families affected.
In its public statement, ASC Lebougui praised the national team captain’s gesture, highlighting the significance of such material support during a particularly challenging period for the relatives of those detained.
The organisation emphasised that the aid had helped families manage everyday expenses while awaiting developments in the legal process.
Attention now turns to the upcoming hearing in Rabat, which is expected to mark an important stage in the case.
For the families of the detained supporters, the court session represents a moment of hope that the situation could move toward a resolution.
Relatives of the supporters are hoping the hearing will lead to a favourable decision and allow the detained fans to return to Senegal as soon as possible.
As the legal proceedings continue, Koulibaly’s intervention has drawn attention as a show of solidarity with compatriots facing a difficult situation far from home.
