Mohamed Salah eyes Ballon d’Or after stellar season with Liverpool

Kaka, the legendary Brazilian playmaker and 2007 Ballon d’Or winner, believes Mohamed Salah has done enough to deserve the prestigious prize this year.

Speaking to SPORTbible, the former AC Milan and Real Madrid star backed the Egyptian’s stunning campaign, which helped guide Liverpool to the Premier League crown.

“It is difficult to determine who deserves the award now, you have to wait until the end of the season, with the Champions League final,” Kaka said.

“For the race, I nominate Mohamed Salah. I think Virgil van Dijk is back to his usual form and deserves to be recognised as well.”

Kaka also highlighted other standout performers this season.

“I also nominate Kylian Mbappe, after winning the European Golden Boot, Lamine Yamal and Rafinha, because Barcelona won La Liga and the Copa del Rey and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.

“The same goes for Dembele, who also had a great season, and if he can be the star of the (Champions League) final, he will be one of the favourites to win.”
