Kaizer Chiefs have pulled off a major coup in South Africa by snapping up influential forward Monnapule Saleng from sworn-rivals Orlando Pirates.
The Amakhosi outfit are keen on strengthening their squad for the upcoming campaign following an inconsistent performance in the recently concluded season, particularly in the South African top-flight.
Despite ending their 10-year trophy drought by clinching the South African Cup, Kaizer Chief out of the top eight, prompting massive squad reinforcement.
According to report, Monnapule Saleng has already signed a pre-contract with Kaizer Chiefs. However, official confirmation of negotiations between the parties has yet to be announced.
As reported earlier by AfricaSoccer.com, contract renewal talks stalled due to the player’s salary demands, which Pirates botched to accept.
Having signed with Kaizer Chiefs, Pirates direct rivals in South Africa, the transfer is expected to spark controversies in the country.
The 27-year-old attacker made just 13 appearances across competitions this season for Pirates, scoring five goals and providing two assists. His last appearance for Pirates in the recently concluded season was back in December 2024.
