Kaizer Chiefs have named a 23-man travelling squad for their CAF Confederation Cup clash with Zambia’s Red Arrows, as they turn their attention away from the Betway Premiership.
The Amakhosi arrived in Zambia on Thursday for the first-leg tie, with a place in the competition’s group stages at stake.
Fernando Da Cruz’s side were given a bye in the opening round, while Red Arrows progressed after beating Madagascan club Inate Rouge 4-0 on aggregate.
The trip comes after Chiefs were held to a 1-1 draw by Stellenbosch FC in midweek. That result extended their run to three successive league draws and meant they have drawn five of their past six Betway Premiership matches.
Faiz Abrahams is included in the squad after being withdrawn from the starting line-up against Stellenbosch FC because of a technical error involving the terms of Chiefs’ loan agreement with the Cape Winelands club.
Da Cruz indicated that he is likely to retain a similar selection to the one used in the league match. Brandon Petersen, Langelihle Phili, Lebohang Maboe and Siphesihle Ndlovu remain unavailable, while Luke Baartman appears to have recovered from his latest injury.
