Kaizer Chiefs legend Lucky Stylianou has acknowledged his former outfits struggles with goal-scoring, a challenge he believes it’s widespread among South African footballers.
Assessing his former outfits performance in the South Africa Cup competitions against Mamelodi Sundowns, Lucky Stylianou emphasized that the players lacked the technique to perform more effectively in the final third.
The former South Africa defender raised concerns about scoring as he believes his former outfit should won with a higher goal margin against Sundowns.
But according to him, lack of goal-scoring is a significant issues for South African footballers.
“Kaiser Chiefs had chances against Sundowns, but they missed most of them. Out of 19 shots, not a single one was on target. This is not just a problem for Kaiser Chiefs – I see it with many South African footballers.
They get into scoring positions, but they lack the technique and composure to finish properly. It’s a basic skill that seems to be missing even at the highest level,” Stylianou stated.
Having edged out Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs will lock horns with Orlando Pirates in semifinals of the Cup competition.
It promises to be a thrilling encounter as both teams will be yeraning for victory to secure the bragging right.
