Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has underlined the urgent need for attacking reinforcements following a 1-1 draw with TS Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium. The result extends a frustrating record for Chiefs, marking the seventh draw in nine encounters between the two sides in the Betway Premiership.
Samukelo Kabini gave TS Galaxy the lead in the 35th minute after Chiefs struggled defensively in the opening stages.
However, Ranga Chivaviro salvaged a point for the visitors with a late equaliser in added time.
The result leaves Kaizer Chiefs with just one win in their last five league games.
Sitting ninth in the standings with 12 points from nine matches, the side remains stagnant, having scored and conceded 13 goals to leave their goal difference at zero.
Speaking after the match, Nabi criticised his team’s sluggish start, highlighting their inability to win duels and execute basic passes in the opening 20 minutes.
“We lost too many simple balls, especially in the early stages. The goal we conceded came from a set piece, and I had to make tactical changes around the 25th minute,” Nabi told SuperSport TV.
While the adjustments helped stabilise Chiefs’ performance, the coach admitted their struggles in front of goal remain a major concern.
Despite a stronger showing in the second half, they once again failed to capitalise on clear-cut chances.
“We tried to push back in the second half, but we missed scoring opportunities again,” Nabi said.
Nabi reiterated his call for the club to secure a reliable striker to solve their attacking woes.
“We have players who like to dribble and operate in tight spaces, but we lack power and individuals who can make quick, decisive decisions in front of goal,” he explained.
Looking ahead, Nabi is hopeful the club can act quickly in the transfer market to address their offensive shortcomings.
Chiefs face Chippa United on December 29, and Nabi will be eager to see improvements as they aim for their fourth win of the 2024/25 campaign.
Ending the year on a high, he believes, could set the tone for a stronger second half of the season.
Kaizer Chiefs’ inability to convert chances into victories has been a recurring issue, and Nabi’s comments reflect mounting pressure to find a solution.
The coach will hope that the addition of attacking reinforcements will bring the firepower needed to propel Chiefs higher up the league table.
