Kaizer Chiefs captain Yusuf Maart set to join Austrian Bundesliga newcomers SV Ried

Out-of-contract Kaizer Chiefs skipper Yusuf Maart is edging closer to joining newly promoted Austrian Bundesliga outfit SV Ried 1912 in the ongoing summer transfer window.

Maart, whose contract expired on June 30 has received a lucrative offer to continue his career in Austria as the new season approaches.

According to reports, the midfielder is interested in joining SV Ried and is currently waiting for work permit in Austria before his move.

The South African midfielder is hoping to finalize the move to the European country with an immediate effect. The 29-year-old is leaving Kaizer Chiefs this summer, bringing an end to his three-year spell at the club.

Meanwhile, Maart has been training alone with a renowned private trainer in Johannesburg.

Since September 2024, SV Ried has also been home to another South African player—former Stellenbosch winger Antonio Van Wyk. While not a key figure in the team, Van Wyk played a role in their promotion to the Austrian Bundesliga, recording one goal and two assists in 18 appearances.

SV Ried will kick off their Bundesliga season with a tough fixture against RB Salzburg on Saturday, August 2.
