Kaiserslautern departure confirmed for German-Ghanaian midfielder Frank Ronstadt

German-Ghanaian midfielder Frank Ronstadt has left 1. FC Kaiserslautern and is now without a club after completing his latest spell with the 2. Bundesliga side.

The 29-year-old right midfielder’s departure was recorded on 1 September 2026. No transfer fee was attached to the move, and Ronstadt has not joined another club.

Ronstadt returned to Kaiserslautern on 30 June after spending the 2025-26 season on loan at FC Viktoria Koln. During that spell, he was part of the Viktoria side that won the Middle Rhine Cup, adding a major honour to his career.

His previous move to Kaiserslautern came in January 2024, when he joined from Darmstadt 98 for a fee of €50,000. Before that, Ronstadt had been with Darmstadt after leaving Wurzburger Kickers on a free transfer in July 2021.

The Hamburg-born player began his senior career with Hamburger SV before moving to Werder Bremen II in 2018. He later spent two seasons at Wurzburger Kickers, followed by his move to Darmstadt. His youth career included spells with St Pauli and Hamburg.

Ronstadt has also been part of teams connected with significant changes in Germany’s league structure. He helped Darmstadt secure promotion to the top flight in the 2022-23 season, while his time at Wurzburger Kickers ended with relegation from the second tier in 2020-21. He was also a German Cup runner-up with Kaiserslautern in the 2023-24 campaign.

A right-footed player who operates on the right side of midfield, Ronstadt’s most recent competitive record came during his loan spell at Viktoria Koln. On returning to Kaiserslautern, he was listed as leaving the club at the start of the 2026-27 season.

Ronstadt, who holds German and Ghanaian nationality, is now available after departing Kaiserslautern on 1 September 2026.
