Mahmoud Abdel Moneim, popularly known as “Kahraba,” has resumed training with Al-Ahly after the Egyptian club’s management accepted his apology for the actions that led to his previous suspension.
The announcement comes after the club confirmed that Kahraba’s sanctions, including a hefty financial penalty, had been lifted.
According to sources within Al-Ahly, the decision to allow Kahraba back was made following discussions led by the club’s president, Mahmoud Al-Khatib, and the club’s sporting director, Mohamed Ramadan.
Reports suggest that the management is considering a reduction in the financial penalty imposed on the player, which was initially set at one million Egyptian pounds.
Suspension Traced Back to Incident in Abu Dhabi
Kahraba’s exclusion stemmed from an incident during Al-Ahly’s participation in the Egyptian Super Cup, which took place in Abu Dhabi.
After a match against Ceramica Cleopatra, Kahraba faced disciplinary action, resulting in his removal from the squad and a substantial fine.
The reconciliation between Kahraba and the club was facilitated through discussions involving Marcel Kohler, Al-Ahly’s head coach, and Mohamed Ramadan.
It was reportedly agreed that Kahraba would refrain from repeating such behavior, ensuring a smoother path for his return to the squad.
Al-Ahly’s Super Cup Triumph
Al-Ahly’s participation in the Egyptian Super Cup concluded with a hard-fought victory over their rivals Zamalek, clinching the title for the 15th time in the club’s storied history.
The match, held in Abu Dhabi, ended in a penalty shootout, where Al-Ahly emerged as the champions.
The team’s focus now shifts to their upcoming match against Al Ain in the Intercontinental Club Championship, scheduled to take place at the Cairo International Stadium on Tuesday.
Kahraba’s reintegration into the squad is expected to bolster the team’s preparations for the highly anticipated encounter.
Kahraba’s Journey with Al-Ahly
Kahraba joined Al-Ahly in the summer of 2022 from Turkish club Hatayspor.
Despite the initial excitement surrounding his signing, he has struggled to cement his place in the starting lineup.
So far this season, Kahraba has not started any matches, featuring only as a substitute in two fixtures against Gor Mahia of Kenya in the CAF Champions League.
With his return to the team, Kahraba will be aiming to regain his form and prove his value to the squad as Al-Ahly navigates both domestic and international competitions.
The decision to reinstate him signals a fresh start, one that fans hope will see the talented forward contribute significantly to the team’s success.
