Former Al Ahly and Egyptian national team goalkeeper Ahmed Shobeir has revealed that Mahmoud Abdel-Moneim Kahraba, the striker for Al Ahly, will be part of the squad traveling to Saudi Arabia for the Egyptian Cup final against Zamalek.
This decision comes despite Kahraba being sidelined by the Swiss coach Marcel Koller in recent matches due to an incident involving his absence from the team’s trip to face Ghana’s Medeama SC in the fifth round of the CAF Champions League group stage.
Speaking on the program “Malaeb On Time” on the “On Time Sports 1” channel, Shobeir stated that Kahraba would be included in the squad for the Zamalek match in the Egyptian Cup final and would travel with the team to Saudi Arabia, despite missing today’s match against Young Africans Tanzanian team in the sixth round of Group D matches in the CAF Champions League.
Shobeir noted that Kahraba’s omission from the match against Young Africans was expected given the outstanding performances of Frenchman Antony Modeste and Palestinian Wesam Abou Ali, the striking duo for Al Ahly.
Kahraba was embroiled in a crisis with Koller recently after requesting not to travel to Ghana for the match against Medeama due to his sister’s wedding.
This led to his exclusion from the team’s matches against Baladiyat Al-Mahalla and Young Africans.
Kahraba celebrates the resolution of his issues with Zamalek, having fully paid the fine owed, and closing the case that threatened his future with the possibility of further suspension.
The Egyptian Cup final between Al Ahly and Zamalek, season 2022-2023, will take place at the “Al Oul Park” stadium, the home of Al-Nassr Saudi Club, in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, under the slogan “100 Years of Football,” in a match scheduled for next Friday, March 8th.
