Juventus Insist Paul Pogba Is Not for Sale Despite Buffon’s Comments
Juventus have moved swiftly to clarify their position on Paul Pogba’s future after club captain Gianluigi Buffon appeared to suggest the French midfielder could be sold to ease financial pressure.
In recent comments, Buffon acknowledged the economic logic behind a potential transfer of Pogba, saying he could understand the idea of selling the club’s prized asset to “replenish the coffers.” However, the remarks did not sit well with Juventus’ hierarchy.
Sporting director Giuseppe Marotta responded firmly to quash any speculation. “I understand the concept Gigi expressed,” Marotta told reporters, “but ours is a club that buys, not one that sells.”
He added, “Buffon was speaking more as an entrepreneur. Of course, we evaluate opportunities, but we are not a selling club. Pogba is a key part of our project.”
The statement reaffirms Juventus’ stance that the 21-year-old midfielder remains central to their long-term plans, despite mounting interest from some of Europe’s elite, including Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
Pogba, who joined Juventus on a free transfer from Manchester United in 2012, has become one of the most sought-after talents in world football. His mix of technical flair, physicality, and maturity on the pitch has seen him quickly develop into a cornerstone of the Bianconeri midfield.
Rumours of a potential summer move have circulated for months, with PSG and Madrid reportedly willing to break the bank for the French international. Yet Juventus’ message remains clear: the club are intent on building, not dismantling.
For now, it appears any hopes of luring Pogba away from Turin — regardless of the size of the offer — will be firmly rebuffed.
