Juventus close in on Wolfsburg goalkeeper Kamil Grabara

Juventus are nearing a final agreement with Wolfsburg to sign Poland goalkeeper Kamil Grabara, according to Sky Sports.

Grabara has been identified as the Italian club’s preferred option to become their second-choice goalkeeper, with Guglielmo Vicario expected to be the leading contender for the number-one position. Vicario has also joined Juventus during the current summer transfer window.

Negotiations between Juventus and Wolfsburg are continuing, but the two clubs are understood to be close to completing a deal. Sky Sports reports that the proposed agreement is expected to be a loan move with an option for Juventus to buy Grabara permanently.

The transfer is part of a wider restructuring of Juventus’ goalkeeping department. Michele Di Gregorio is close to joining Bournemouth on loan, with the English club expected to have the option to make the move permanent. Mattia Perin, meanwhile, is preparing to leave Juventus for Palermo.

Juventus have already secured an agreement to bring in Vicario from Tottenham on loan. The Italy goalkeeper is therefore expected to compete for, or take, the starting role, while Grabara would provide the squad’s deputy option if his move from Wolfsburg is completed.

The Turin club’s interest in Grabara follows a season in which the Poland international made 37 appearances for Wolfsburg in all competitions. He conceded 71 goals during those matches and kept four clean sheets.

Should the negotiations conclude as expected, Grabara would give Juventus another experienced option in goal while the club reshapes its squad in that position. The anticipated loan structure would also allow Juventus to assess the goalkeeper before deciding whether to activate the purchase option.

For Wolfsburg, the proposed move would see Grabara leave on a temporary basis after serving as a regular presence for the German side last season. For Juventus, the deal would provide cover behind Vicario as Di Gregorio nears a move to Bournemouth and Perin prepares for his transfer to Palermo.

The agreement has not yet been finalised, but talks are at an advanced stage, with Juventus and Wolfsburg edging closer to reaching a conclusion over Grabara’s move.
