Juventus beat Atalanta to revive Serie A campaign

Juventus returned to winning ways in Serie A with a 2-0 victory over Atalanta in the fifth round of the season.

Francisco Conceicao and Gleison Bremer scored the goals as Juventus ended a two-match winless run in the league. They had drawn 2-2 with Milan before suffering a 3-2 defeat by Sassuolo.

Juventus also benefited from Roma’s 2-2 draw with Inter, which allowed them to reduce the gap between the two sides.

Atalanta, meanwhile, have now lost three consecutive matches in Serie A. Their latest defeat followed losses against Roma and Cagliari.

The visitors took the lead in the 28th minute when Conceicao met a low cross from Celik and finished confidently.

Bremer doubled Juventus’ advantage in the 77th minute with a well-directed header.

The goal continued the Brazilian defender’s impressive record in the major European leagues. Since making his Juventus debut in the 2022-23 season, Bremer has scored 12 headed goals in the top five European leagues, more than any other defender and one ahead of Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk.

The result moved Juventus to 10 points, leaving them sixth in the Serie A table alongside Como and Frosinone.

Atalanta remain on six points in 11th place.
