Justin Njinmah, now a key figure in Werder Bremen’s squad, reflects fondly on his time with Borussia Dortmund, where he spent a year and a half on loan.
Despite featuring predominantly for Dortmund’s U-23 team in the 3rd league and making just one competitive appearance for the senior side, the 24-year-old views his stint as pivotal to his growth.
“During my time in Dortmund, I realized that I had the potential to assert myself in the Bundesliga,” Njinmah shared in an interview with Sport Bild. His lone appearance for Dortmund’s first team came on September 10, 2022, during a 3-0 away loss to RB Leipzig. For Njinmah, this match was more than just a fleeting opportunity. “It was a huge step for me, a sign of appreciation and confirmation that I belong at this level,” he added.
Training alongside stars like Erling Haaland and Marco Reus left a lasting impact on Njinmah. “You see how consistently they perform—it pushes you to improve.”
Born in Germany to Nigerian parents, Njinmah’s diverse background adds another layer to his inspiring journey. Now back at Werder Bremen, he aims to solidify his place in the Bundesliga spotlight.
