Jurgen Klopp voices concern over Mohamed Salah’s recent form
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has openly acknowledged the dip in Mohamed Salah’s goal-scoring prowess, highlighting it as a cause for concern ahead of their upcoming clash against Fulham.
Speaking in a pre-match press conference, Klopp addressed the ongoing challenge of Salah’s recent performances, indicating that the Egyptian forward’s scoring drought has become a notable issue for the team.
Reflecting on past seasons, Klopp emphasized the cyclical nature of goal-scoring slumps among key players such as Salah, Sadio Mane, and Roberto Firmino.
However, he underscored the current predicament by noting the absence of other players stepping up to compensate for Salah’s downturn.
Klopp articulated, “We always had that in the past, was it Sadio, was it Bobby, was it Mo, one of them always had these spells, but then the other guys stepped in and nobody spoke about it really.”
The Liverpool boss went on to address Salah’s recent injury return, suggesting that a temporary dip in form following such setbacks is not unusual for players of Salah’s caliber.
Klopp stressed that overcoming such challenges, either individually or as a team, is a natural part of the game.
He remarked, “What is the problem if Mo Salah has two or three weeks after coming from injury where he is not exactly (at his best)? If he had never been in these moments then he would have scored 40 goals each season.”
However, Klopp expressed his disappointment over the team’s collective performance in recent matches, particularly their failure to convert scoring opportunities into victories.
He attributed their recent setbacks to missed chances by the entire squad rather than singling out individual players.
In conclusion, Klopp emphasized the importance of addressing their goal-scoring woes collectively as a team to regain momentum and secure positive results in their upcoming fixtures.
