Jurgen Klopp hails Mohamed Salah after stunning Trabzonspor hat-trick against Galatasaray
Liverpool legend and current Germany head coach Jurgen Klopp has lavished praise on Mohamed Salah following the Egyptian forward’s outstanding performance for Trabzonspor in their emphatic victory over Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig.
Salah produced a sensational display on Saturday, scoring a hat-trick and providing an assist as Trabzonspor swept aside Galatasaray 4-0 in the sixth round of the league campaign.
The performance further underlined the Egyptian’s remarkable start to life in Turkey, with Salah now leading the Super Lig scoring charts with seven goals. He has also contributed two assists, highlighting his influence in front of goal as well as his ability to create opportunities for his teammates.
Klopp, who worked closely with Salah during their hugely successful spell together at Liverpool, was impressed by the Egyptian’s latest display and admitted that he continues to be amazed by the forward’s ability to maintain such a high level.
“I feel something special whenever I talk about Mohamed Salah. I often ask myself how he maintains this level, despite his age. He scored his first hat-trick yesterday with Trabzonspor and the future will be better for him. He is playing his first season in Turkey and look what he is doing in the league,” Klopp said, according to Haberts.
The German tactician also highlighted Salah’s goalscoring output, pointing out that the Egyptian continues to produce numbers more commonly associated with traditional centre-forwards despite primarily operating from the wing.
“Mohamed Salah is sweeping the Turkish league. Despite being a winger, he scores more goals than many strikers and helps his team achieve better results,” he added.
Klopp further stressed that opponents cannot afford to relax when Salah is on the pitch, regardless of how much of the match has already been played.
“No one can doubt Mohamed Salah until the match is over, because he is capable of making a difference at any moment,” he said.
The former Liverpool manager also revealed that Salah’s third goal against Galatasaray was particularly impressive, prompting him to applaud the Egyptian’s movement and finishing.
“After Mohamed Salah’s third goal, I stood up to applaud him. It was a great run and a perfect finish into the net,” Klopp added.
The performance also brought back memories of Salah’s extraordinary years at Liverpool for Klopp, who watched the Egyptian develop into one of the Premier League’s most prolific attacking players during their time together at Anfield.
“Mohamed Salah reminded me of our days at Liverpool and what he did there. He gave me back that confidence that makes me believe anything is possible,” Klopp said.
Salah’s explosive start to the Turkish season has already made him one of the league’s biggest attacking threats, and his latest hat-trick has further strengthened his influence at Trabzonspor.
With seven goals and two assists after six league rounds, the Egyptian international is quickly becoming a central figure in Trabzonspor’s campaign and will now look to maintain his remarkable scoring form as the season progresses.
