Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Mohamed Salah is available for selection in the upcoming Premier League match against Brentford, while right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold will be sidelined due to injury.
Salah, the 31-year-old Egyptian forward and captain, who has been a standout performer for Liverpool this season with 14 goals, is set to make a return after recovering from a hamstring injury sustained during the Africa Cup of Nations in January.
In contrast, Alexander-Arnold is ruled out due to a recurrence of a knee problem, following Liverpool’s 3-1 victory against Burnley last weekend.
Klopp revealed that Alexander-Arnold will also miss the League Cup final against Chelsea later this month.
“Mo is back in full training, so that brings him back into contention,” Klopp announced during a press conference.
He also provided positive updates on other players, mentioning the return of Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez, Conor Bradley, and Alisson Becker.
However, Thiago Alcantara remains unavailable.
Addressing concerns about Alexander-Arnold’s injury, Klopp dismissed claims that the right-back was rushed back too quickly.
“The boys were in the moment when they played. They were fit. But the situation told us differently because it happened again. Very unlucky and unfortunate, but it can happen,” Klopp explained.
Klopp expressed admiration for Brentford, Liverpool’s upcoming opponents, describing them as a “super tricky” team.
He highlighted their organization, set-pieces, and overall compact style of play. Klopp acknowledged the challenge Brentford poses and emphasized the need for Liverpool to be at their best to secure a victory.
Regarding midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai, who is recovering from a hamstring injury, Klopp stated that his availability for the League Cup final on February 25 is uncertain, emphasizing the focus on upcoming matches against Brentford and Luton Town.
Liverpool faces Brentford in what promises to be a challenging encounter, with Klopp emphasizing the need for his team to be tactically sharp and prepared to overcome the strengths of their opponents.
