Edlin Randy Essang-Matouti, the forward for JS Kabylie, has received a call-up to join the Gabon national team for their upcoming training camp, scheduled to take place during the FIFA international break from March 18 to 26.
The training camp, set to be held in France, will see the Black Panthers of Gabon prepare for a friendly match against Senegal, slated for Friday, March 22, at the La Licorne stadium in Amiens.
Gabon’s head coach, Thierry Mouyouma, has named a squad of 26 players for the camp, including JS Kabylie’s Essang-Matouti.
Having joined JS Kabylie last summer from FC 105 of Libreville, the 20-year-old Essang-Matouti earns his first call-up to the Gabon senior national team, having previously represented the U23 side.
In his 12 appearances for JS Kabylie, Essang-Matouti has netted one goal, demonstrating his potential on the field.
While Essang-Matouti gears up for international duty with Gabon, his absence from JS Kabylie will be felt during two crucial fixtures.
The team will first travel to Algiers to face USM Alger in a rescheduled match on Tuesday, March 19, before returning home to Tizi Ouzou to host ES Setif on Sunday, March 24, in the 21st round of the Mobilis 1 league championship.
Essang-Matouti’s call-up to the Gabon national team highlights his growing stature in African football and underscores his importance as a rising talent.
As he prepares to represent his country on the international stage, JS Kabylie will look to cope without him in their upcoming fixtures, relying on the depth of their squad to maintain their competitive edge in domestic competition.
