JS Kabylie recruit Mauritania full-back Aly Abeid after CFR Cluj spell

Mauritania left-back Aly Abeid has joined Algerian club JS Kabylie from Romanian side CFR Cluj, bringing his time in Romania to an end after two and a half seasons.

The 28-year-old defender moves to a club competing in Algeria’s Ligue 1, adding experience at left-back to JS Kabylie’s squad. Abeid is left-footed and has represented Mauritania, while his senior club career has included spells in Spain, France and Romania.

Abeid made six appearances for CFR Cluj in the 2026-27 SuperLiga campaign before his move, starting every game and providing two assists. He also featured four times in UEFA Conference League qualifying, starting each match and playing 349 minutes across the competition.

His final season with CFR Cluj follows a successful 2024-25 campaign in which he helped the club win the Romanian Cup. Abeid joined CFR Cluj from fellow Romanian side UTA Arad in February 2024 in a move worth €100,000.

Before arriving in Romania, Abeid spent time in France with Valenciennes FC. He joined the Ligue 2 club from Spanish side Atletico Levante in January 2020, having previously spent time on loan at AD Alcorcon. Earlier in his career, he progressed through Levante’s youth system after starting at LUD Academy and ASAC Concorde in Mauritania.

Born in Arafat, Abeid stands at 1.74m and has established himself as a defender capable of operating from the left side. His arrival provides JS Kabylie with a player who has recently featured regularly at both domestic and European level.

Abeid’s move was completed on 31 August 2026, with JS Kabylie becoming the latest club in his career and his first in Algeria.
