Jean-Guy Wallemme Retains Role at JS Kabylie Despite Expulsion
Jean-Guy Wallemme, the French coach of Algerian club JS Kabylie, has retained his position at the helm of the team despite recent controversy surrounding his expulsion from Algeria earlier this week. While some sections of the local press had announced his sacking, the official Algerian news agency APS confirmed that Wallemme has not been dismissed and continues in his role.
The reports suggest that the French coach conducted the team’s training session as usual, following an intervention from Cherif Hannachi, the president of JS Kabylie, who is believed to have stood by Wallemme despite the administrative issues that led to his expulsion from the country.
Wallemme, who joined JS Kabylie in January, was reportedly expelled from Algeria over administrative reasons, which caused an uproar within the local football community. Despite the incident, the club’s management has opted to keep him in charge, with Hannachi expressing his displeasure at the situation but ultimately backing the coach.
The Frenchman, known for his previous work with Lens, has been tasked with revitalising the Kabyle club after a difficult start to the season. His stay at JS Kabylie now appears secure, for the time being, as the club looks to focus on their domestic league campaign.
JS Kabylie, one of Algeria’s most successful football clubs, will hope that the controversy surrounding Wallemme’s situation is swiftly resolved so that the focus can return to improving on the field.
