José Peseiro, the Portuguese tactician steering Zamalek, expressed contentment with his squad’s showing against South Africa’s Stellenbosch in the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-final first leg on Wednesday.
The Egyptian giants battled to a goalless stalemate on foreign turf, setting the stage for a thrilling decider. The two sides will lock horns again next Wednesday at Cairo Stadium, where a spot in the semi-finals hangs in the balance.
Speaking post-match on beIN SPORTS, Peseiro said, “A goalless draw is not a bad result away from home. Both teams played well, and we played with a distinctive style. We were the better team in the second half.”
“In the second leg in Cairo, we will strive to give our best. Everyone is working hard and diligently. We need to create goals and work positively towards the goal,” he added.
With the tie teetering on a knife-edge, Zamalek’s attention briefly turns to their League Cup tussle with Modern Sports FC on April 6th, before the crucial return leg.
