Zamalek’s Portuguese manager, José Peseiro, expressed frustration over the relentless fixture crunch as his squad gears up to face Modern Sport at Cairo Stadium on Sunday in the Egyptian Capital Cup.

With little breathing room after their recent Confederation Cup clash against Stellenbosch, Peseiro highlighted the strain of juggling commitments.

“We’ll have an important match tomorrow,” Peseiro said during the pre-match press conference.

“However, there are big question marks surrounding some teams’ failure to play their matches in the tournament. Zamalek will play despite the limited time, after the Stellenbosch match in the Confederation Cup.

“There will be a training session tomorrow for the group of players excluded from the Modern Sport match, to prepare them for the return match against Stellenbosch. I will lead the training session myself at 3:00 PM, before heading to Cairo Stadium. This is the first time in history that this has happened to me, and I need to adapt. I hope it will be the last.

“We must play tomorrow’s match to win. We didn’t play the matches against El Gouna and Petrojet with our full starting lineup, and in the Petrojet match, defensive errors led to us conceding two goals. We want to be organized in tomorrow’s match and avoid mistakes.”

Zamalek sits fourth in Group A with one point from two games, while Modern Sport holds third with three points.
