Despite recent exits from both the Egyptian Capital Cup and the African Confederation Cup, Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro’s future is not on Zamalek’s agenda at least for now.
A Zamalek club source told Kooora that Thursday evening’s board meeting, led by Hussein Labib, will not include any talk of Peseiro’s job status. The meeting will instead focus on broader issues affecting the club’s sports divisions.
Rumors have swirled about a possible coaching change, but the source denied any immediate plans to part ways with Peseiro.
“The Zamalek board has not resolved its position on the continuation or departure of Peseiro, as has been rumoured in recent hours, and the agenda of the board meeting does not include the coach’s file.” the source said.
For now, the board seems to be backing Peseiro as the club faces a critical run of six league matches, as well as a high-stakes Egyptian Cup final against Pyramids next month.
“The Zamalek board is keen to keep Peseiro and maintain the stability of the team.” the source added.
