Zamalek coach José Peseiro is fully focused on his team’s Egypt Cup quarter-final clash against Smouha on Saturday, emphasizing the challenge ahead while downplaying Al Ahly’s withdrawal from their league encounter.
“We will fight to win the Egypt Cup title, and therefore we must be at the best of our cases,” Peseiro stated during a press conference.
José Peseiro acknowledged Smouha’s technical capabilities but made it clear that Zamalek’s objective remains victory.
The Portuguese coach expressed his preference for facing Al Ahly on the pitch rather than benefiting from their no-show. “I was hoping to confront Al Ahly and win it on the field and not with its withdrawal, although not playing the match gives us an opportunity to obtain greater comfort in light of the pressure of the matches.”
With Zamalek’s priorities set, Peseiro revealed Nasser Mansi and Mahmoud Jihad remain sidelined but will be prepared for future fixtures.
