The rumor circulating today suggests that José Anigo’s position as head coach of OM may be more precarious than previously thought. This speculation comes in the wake of Marseille’s recent defeat at home against Rennes, which has left the team in 6th place in the French Ligue 1 with 44 points.
José Anigo, who has been serving as interim coach since the departure of Elie Baup in December, was initially appointed for four matches but could be facing an early departure. Under his leadership, Marseille has averaged 1.3 points per Ligue 1 match, compared to Elie Baup’s average of 1.59 points during the first 17 matches of the season.
Responding to the rumors of his departure on RMC, Anigo stated, “When you lose a match, for a day or two, your head is at the bottom of your c… The evening or the day after the match, I want to open my veins. But today I’m in fight mode. It is not possible for me to let go of the team. I will be there from the first to the eighth game.”
He also addressed speculation about tensions between him and the club president, emphasizing that it is completely false. Anigo acknowledged his share of failure but emphasized his dedication to the club and the lack of credit he receives.
Regarding the players, Anigo expressed his disappointment with their performance and emphasized the need for them to understand the importance of representing the club and its supporters. He highlighted the need for collective effort and leadership within the team.
Anigo had previously stated that several great European coaches were ready to join OM, indicating potential changes in coaching staff.
