John Asiimwe: SC Villa Jogoo sign 17-year-old winger from Express FC on free transfer
SC Villa Jogoo have completed the signing of Ugandan left winger John Asiimwe from Uganda Premier League rivals Express FC on a free transfer.
The 17-year-old joins the Kampala club ahead of the 2026-27 season, moving directly from Express, where he has been under contract since 2025. The transfer keeps Asiimwe in the Uganda Premier League, with the wide player switching between two of the countrys established top-flight sides without a fee being paid.
Asiimwe, who is 1.68m tall and primarily operates as an attacking left winger, is regarded as a promising young talent within Ugandan football. He is listed with a market value of 100,000 as of June 2026, reflecting a rise from 75,000 earlier in the year during his time at Express. The increase in valuation over a short period underlines his development at senior level before making the move to Villa.
The winger first stepped up to professional football at Express FC, earning promotion from the clubs youth academy to the senior side in July 2025. His progression from Express FC Youth Academy into the first team and now on to SC Villa Jogoo traces a rapid ascent through domestic ranks for a player born on 15 October 2008.
Asiimwe will now continue his career with SC Villa Jogoo in the Uganda Premier League, joining the club as a free agent with his current valuation at 100,000.
