Joelinton has welcomed Anthony Elanga to Newcastle United following the Swedish-Cameroonian forward’s move from Nottingham Forest.
The Brazilian midfielder praised his new teammate’s qualities and expressed excitement over what Elanga brings to the squad ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Elanga, who was born in Sweden to Cameroonian parents, joined the Magpies this summer after a standout campaign with Forest, where his pace and attacking instincts earned him plaudits.
The 23-year-old now becomes part of Eddie Howe’s rebuilding project as Newcastle push for a stronger showing domestically and in Europe.
Joelinton, speaking to the club’s media, was enthusiastic about the addition: “He’s a really good player with a lot of qualities. He’s very fast, can score or assist and has been tough to play against so I’m happy he’s now joined us!”
He added: “He will be very welcomed into the group and we will do everything to make sure he feels at home and comfortable so he can do what he has been doing for Nottingham Forest.”
The Brazilian also made his return from injury during Newcastle’s pre-season opener against Carlisle United.
He had been sidelined since April with a knee injury that ended his 2024/25 campaign early.
“My knee is good, I feel fully fit and happy,” Joelinton said. “I now hope to have a season without injuries.”
