Joel Masutha has left Kruger United by mutual agreement after only a few months with the club, with the experienced coach set to return to Motsepe Foundation Championship side The Bees.
The 54? no age not given. Masutha joined Kruger in June as the club expanded its technical team ahead of their first Betway Premiership campaign. He worked alongside head coach Abram Mangoya.
Kruger confirmed Masutha’s departure on Tuesday, saying his exit took effect on 6 October 2026. KickOff understands that Masutha asked to be relieved of his duties.
“Kruger United FC confirms that the club and assistant coach Joel Masutha have mutually agreed to part ways with effect from today, 6 October 2026,” the club said.
“The club thanks coach Masutha for his commitment and his contribution during his time with the Village Boys, and for the professionalism with which he has conducted himself throughout.
“We wish him every success in the next chapter of his coaching career and in all his future endeavours.”
Difficult beginning for Kruger
Kruger United have struggled during their opening weeks in the top flight. The Village Boys have recorded one win and one draw from their first seven matches, while losing five games.
Masutha’s departure comes as the club attempts to establish itself in the Betway Premiership during its maiden season in the competition.
The coach is now expected to take charge of The Bees, returning to the club where he previously worked before moving to Kruger United.
The Bees appointed Duncan Lechesa after Masutha’s earlier departure, but Lechesa has since left the club, creating the opportunity for Masutha to begin a second spell in charge.
The Bees are currently 14th in the National First Division standings. They have won once and lost four times so far, leaving Masutha with the task of improving the club’s results and moving them away from the bottom end of the table.
Masutha has also managed Black Leopards, Baroka FC, Pretoria Callies, Chippa United and Maccabi FC during his coaching career.
His return would give The Bees a familiar figure as they seek to recover from their poor start, while Kruger must now address the vacancy created within their technical team.
