Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka has downplayed injury concerns following the team’s 3-0 victory over Real Madrid in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday night.
Both Saka and midfielder Declan Rice, who scored twice during the match, were substituted due to apparent knocks.
Arsenal dominated proceedings, with midfielder Declan Rice delivering two exceptional free-kicks in the 58th and 70th minutes, respectively.
Mikel Merino added a third goal in the 75th minute, further solidifying Arsenal’s advantage.
Post-match, manager Mikel Arteta addressed the media, stating, “I think Dec had an issue with the foot, I don’t know if it was a tackle or what it was, and Bukayo after he got tackled on the foul I think he had a knock and he had to go.
“Doesn’t look serious, no.”
Following the match, Saka took to social media to express his gratitude and determination, writing, “We asked and you gave us everything, thank you! Same energy in Madrid, job’s not finished!”
Saka, born in England to Nigerian parents, has been instrumental in Arsenal’s Champions League campaign this season.
He has made six appearances, scoring four goals and providing two assists. His contributions have been pivotal in Arsenal’s progression to the quarter-finals.
The return leg is scheduled for April 16, where Arsenal will aim to capitalize on their advantage to secure a spot in the semi-finals.
