Borussia Dortmund are being linked with a move for Red Bull Salzburg centre‑back Joane Gadou, with the teenage defender’s future in Austria increasingly under scrutiny.
The 19-year-old, who holds both French and Ivorian nationality, is currently on the books at Salzburg but has emerged as a rumoured target for Dortmund, according to transfer listings dated 9 March 2026. The probability of a move is yet to be defined, with the report marking the likelihood simply as “?”.
Gadou, a 1.95m right-footed centre-back, joined Salzburg from Paris Saint-Germain’s U19s in September 2024 after progressing through PSG’s youth ranks, including spells with their U17 and youth sides. Since moving to Austria’s Bundesliga, his market value has climbed sharply, peaking at €15m in June 2025 before settling at a current estimated €12.00m.
There is no publicly listed contract expiry date for Gadou at Salzburg, fuelling speculation that his situation could evolve quickly in coming windows, whether via a permanent transfer or a future scenario in which he could potentially leave as a free agent should talks over terms stall.
The former PSG youngster, born in Aubervilliers on 17 January 2007, has been developed primarily as a central defender and is regarded as part of Salzburg’s national-team-level talent pathway. His rise in valuation from €500,000 at PSG U19 in early 2024 to multi-million status at Salzburg underlines how highly he is rated across Europe’s scouting departments.
No fee has yet been reported for a possible switch to Dortmund, but any negotiations would be expected to take the €12.00m benchmark into account. If a deal does materialise, a move to the Bundesliga giants could be a defining step in Gadou’s career, offering a larger stage on which to enhance his reputation as one of Europe’s emerging defensive prospects.
